WELSH ACTRESS PRESENT TOP RUSSIAN FILM AWARDS GALA SHOW
George – Veale present a prestigious Anglo-Russian Film Festival Awards Gala Night in London.Cardiff beauty Vicky George-Veale will present the Sochi International Film Festival and Awards (SIFFA) promoters who are currently staging a London-based series of film events starting yesterday.
The main Festival is held every December at the stunning seaside resort of Sochi on Russia’s Black Sea coast – host also to five matches in the upcoming FIFA World Cup football contest.
Vicky will be presenting into this year’s SIFFA UK events – their Gala Awards show at London’s super-trendy Soho Hotel on Friday night (23 March).
Top of the London bill collecting a special SIFFA award from Vicky on the night will be Oscar-winning British film director Stephen Frears. The acclaimed director is being honoured for his hit comic drama period piece Victoria & Abdul, which stars Dame Judi Dench.
Vicky will have to steer her way through introductions for a tongue-twisting list of British and Russian film industry leading lights as she presents the golden ‘Irida’ statuettes to the Sochi winners.
The up-and-coming 26-year-old performer, who trained at Rada, has made appearances in TV’s Dr Who and Wales’ longest-running Welsh-language TV soap opera, Pobol y Cwm. Her career has also branched out into fashion modelling and a successful run at top Beauty Contests.
In 2013 she made the world finals of Miss Universe, having previously reached the Miss Galaxy finals and winning the Miss British Empire crown in 2012. Vicky remains undaunted by the sudden challenge of the London bright lights: “I shall pack my kit including a ball gown and we are going to having amazing night,” said Vicky. “I am extremely determined, dedicated, focused and utterly committed,” she said
